HYDROCELE

Hydrocele is a condition that involves swelling in the scrotum due to accumulated fluid, which can sometimes happen at birth and needs the best hydrocele treatment in India. It is a collection of fluid in the scrotum surrounding your testicles, that may happen on one side or both sides.

Causes

Although most newborn hydroceles will clear up on their own, it is important to rule out any other underlying health conditions that could be also causing swelling.

  • Trauma or Inflammation: A hydrocele may develop in older boys and adult men due to trauma or inflammation in the scrotum.
  • Muscular Opening: If the muscular covering remains open, or is reopened, the fluid may travel from the abdomen into the scrotum via the canal or pouch, causing the hydrocele.
  • Inguinal Hernias: Sometimes, primary hydroceles are caused by inguinal hernias, which are formed when a portion of your gut falls through an opening and into your scrotum.

Symptoms

  • No Pain: Hydroceles can be silent to the symptoms of newborns, except for swelling of the scrotum
  • Discomfort: In adults, especially if large, may cause some discomfort (from the weight of a swollen scrotum) while walking or while having sexual intercourse.
  • Swelling: It may cause swelling of the scrotum or the area around the groin and if swelling in the scrotum is filled with liquid, as with hydroceles, then the light will go through.

Complications

The greater the volume of fluid within a hydrocele, the heavier the feeling in the scrotum. The result is the draining of fluids from the abdomen to the scrotum. A non-communicating hydrocele occurs when the orifice (an opening of the body part) is closed, but a portion of abdominal fluid remains trapped in the scrotum.
